Before You Start
Please make sure you have the following ready:
- Internet connection
- User ID
- User Password
- User PIN
- Devices that you use for the Catalyst app (e.g. iPad, tablet, phone, etc.)
- List of Students you want on your device
Best Practices: Steps to Upgrade to the New App
IMPORTANT: Repeat these steps for each User and every device since each user/device may have different data saved locally, that has not yet synced to the Portal.
For example, if Therapist 1 logs in to Device 1 and saves a Note as a draft, and then Therapist 2 logs in to Device 1, they would not see Therapist 1's draft note (even if it's for the same student).
-
Login to the old app and go to the SOAP Notes tab and Publish any Drafts you want to keep.
Drafts are always saved locally to the device on which they were created and saved as a Draft.
Only Published SOAP Notes will sync to the Portal and other devices.
- Go to the Notes tab and Publish any Drafts you want to keep.
Drafts are always saved locally to the device on which they were created and saved as a Draft.
Only Published Notes will sync to the Portal and other devices.
- Go to the Assessments tab, under the FORMS section, and Save any Draft Forms you want to keep.
Drafts are always saved locally to the device on which they were created and saved as a Draft.
Only Saved Forms will sync to the Portal and other devices. - In the old app, go back to the PIN screen.
- Check for Unsynced Items in the top right corner.
If the number unsynced is 0, skip to Step 7.
- Sync the items on the old app, until you have 0 Unsynced Items.
See Legacy App FAQs for more details on how to do this.
- Download the new app. See Download Catalyst App for more info.
- Login to the new app with your username, and password and unlock with your PIN.
- Click Manage Students to Add any Students you want to be synced to this device on the new app.
- After you have successfully logged into the new app and are certain you have no items on your old apps that you want to keep, you may delete the old app.
IMPORTANT: This cannot be undone. Please be certain that you have resolved any Unsynced Items and that any Draft Notes, Draft SOAP Notes, and Draft Forms that you want to keep have been Published/Saved and synced to the Portal. See the Checklist below to ensure you have done everything that is needed before deleting the old app.

FAQs
What happens to any Unsynced Items on my old app if I delete the old app?
- The Unsynced Items will be lost. You must go to the PIN screen and check your unsynced items on each device. Any items not synced will be lost if you delete the old app. See Legacy App FAQs for more information.
What happens to my Draft SOAP Notes, Draft Notes, and Draft Forms if I delete the old app?
- The Drafts for SOAP Notes, Notes, and Forms will be lost once you delete the old app. You must go to your SOAP Notes, Notes, and Forms on each device and Publish any Drafts you want to keep (or Save for any Forms). Drafts do not sync to the Portal. Drafts are locally stored on the specific device where it was created/saved. For example, if you create a Note and save it as a Draft on your phone, you will not see that Draft Note on your tablet.
What if I want to see any data that was already taken for the day on the old app?
- You can use the Fetch Trial Data button on the new app just as you did on the old app, as it has the same functionality, and will allow you to see any data that was taken on the same day (whether from the old or new app versions).
I tried to download the new app but got a message that I needed a higher iOS version to download it. What should I do?
- For Apple users, check to make sure you are on the latest operating system version by following these steps to Update your iPhone or iPad. After this, if you are still receiving that error message, check to make sure your device falls within the requirements of our Supported Devices & Browsers as the new Catalyst app may require a new operating system than the old app.
