The Student Settings tab allows users to customize various controls for each student. Users can control the following items:
Jump to Section: [Session Settings] [DTT Settings] [Prompt Delay Settings] [Interval Settings] [Other Settings]
Access the Settings subtab from the Setup Tab in the Students Section.
Session Settings
Session settings will determine if the SOAP Note button should appear on the student notebook start page of the app.
-
Require SOAP Notes - Makes completing a SOAP Note mandatory. Users will receive an extra visual prompt reminding them to complete a SOAP Note if they attempt to exit the data notebook without completing the required SOAP Note.
NOTE: In order to use Require SOAP Notes, Use Timesheet/SOAP Notes must also be enabled.
DTT Settings
Establish Discrete Trial Training behaviors.
-
Correction Trials - Number of identical and consecutive correction trials to be presented following a prompted response.
NOTE: A correction trial is a trial presented immediately after a prompted trial as learners may often perform better on correction trials, thus providing an opportunity for differential reinforcement.
-
Momentum Probes - Number of previously mastered Targets to be presented preceding each current acquisition target during a DTT session.
NOTE: Momentum probes are previously mastered targets that will be interspersed between acquisition targets during a DTT session.
-
Momentum Type - Number of, and the manner in which, behavioral momentum probes will present prior to acquisition targets during a DTT session.
NOTE: Momentum Probes must be set to 2 or more in order to use Suggested or Multiple Scored.
- Intermixed - After scoring a target, the next target that pops up, will be ONE defined behavioral momentum target.
- Suggested - After scoring a target, a new page with a list of up to 10 momentum targets will be listed for reference only.
- Multiple Scored - After scoring a target, a new page with a list of up to 10 momentum targets will be listed and any of them can be scored as maintenance.
-
Target Selection Mode - Manner in which targets are presented during a DTT session.
- Random - All targets selected for the DTT session are presented in traditionally random order.
- Weighted by Performance - Targets are presented based on their current weights, which are computed based on student performance and trial counts. Targets that students are having the most difficulty with AND the least practice become increasingly likely for selection.
- Ordered - Targets selected for the DTT session are presented in a specific, user-chosen order (you must also create a Playlist when using this feature).
-
Momentum counts as Maintenance Yes - The data scored for momentum trials conducted during DTT sessions will be included in the criteria used to evaluate maintenance.
- No - The data scored for momentum trials conducted during DTT sessions will NOT be included in the criteria used to evaluate maintenance.
- Pull Momentum Targets From - This setting allows you to select from where your momentum targets will be pulled. Choosing momentum targets from All Maintenance Targets will select momentum probes from targets across all maintenance levels for that student. Alternatively, users can select a level that an administrator had created specifically for the organization.
- Exclude Targets From - When All Maintenance Targets are selected above, the user is able to exclude momentum targets from any one of the other maintenance lists. When a list is selected here, the items appearing on it will NOT be pulled for momentum items within a DTT session.
- Lock Settings - Ability to allow users to modify DTT settings during a session via the app.
Prompt Delay Settings
Prompt delays indicate the amount of time that elapses between the instructor’s initial demand and the delivery of the teaching prompt.
NOTE: Prompt Delay notes will be displayed under the SD on the app.
- Use Prompt Delay - Select the checkbox to activate prompt delays in the app.
- Advance/Regress By - Number of seconds by which you want to either advance or regress your prompt delay once it reaches (or fails) mastery.
- Max Delay - Maximum number of seconds by which the user delays the delivery of their prompt if the student does not independently respond.
- Advance Delay After - Number of consecutive correct OR total trials after the prompt delay should increase.
- Regress Delay After - Number of consecutive incorrect trials after the prompt delay should decrease.

Interval Settings
Control Interval Settings for behaviors.
- Momentary Interval - How often the momentary interval recording window will appear in the app.
-
Momentary Popup Duration - Choose how long the momentary interval recording window will stay open and be available to take data.
NOTE: The scoring window automatically closes after this interval is complete. If the user does not score anything during the time in which the popup is open, there are no data stored for that momentary interval.
-
Start Momentary Automatically - Define whether or not the momentary time sampling will automatically start when a student notebook is chosen on the device.
NOTE: If No, the user will need to manually begin the session by tapping on the Behaviors tab on the left side of the device screen, then the Momentary Sample button at the bottom right of the popup window, and then tap Start.
- Partial Interval – Observation Interval – The amount of time in which the Observation Interval should be when taking Partial Interval behavior data. This is the amount of time the instructors will have to observe the behavior in question.
- Partial Interval – Recording Interval - The amount of time in which the Recording Interval should be when taking Partial Interval behavior data. This is the amount of time the instructors will have to record whether or not the behavior(s) occurred within the preceding Observation Interval.
- Play Sound at End of Interval
- Lock Settings - Choosing Yes will render users unable to modify these settings via the app. Choosing No will allow users to make changes to these settings in session from the device.
Other Settings
- Score Prompt Codes on TAs - When set to Yes, users can take data on the prompts that they use to obtain student responses. When this feature is set to No, TA steps are scored as yes/no items only.
- Zero Out Targets - Based on student attendance, Catalyst has the ability to add "zero" data points to select targets. This feature can be helpful in making sure the graphs are reflective of days in which the student was present but did not exhibit any behaviors.
- Zero Out Behaviors - Based on student attendance, Catalyst has the ability to add "zero" data points to select behaviors. This feature can be helpful in making sure the graphs are reflective of days in which the student was present but did not exhibit any behaviors.
- Default Desired Daily Trials -
-
Device Tally Buttons - On the app, Catalyst has the ability to display shortcut frequency or tally buttons at the bottom of the screen. This setting defines whether skill acquisition targets, behavior reduction targets or both show up as shortcuts on the device.
- Frequency buttons can also be reordered. Click the Reorder link and then drag and drop the frequencies into the desired order.
- Maintenance Condition Lines - When set to Yes, Catalyst will automatically add a condition or phase change line for each maintenance level transition when graphing.
- Automatic Annotations for Errorless - When set to Yes, Catalyst will automatically enter a condition or phase change line when a target enters a new prompt level within the errorless prompt schedule.
-
Automatic Goal Lines for Mastery - When set to Yes, Catalyst will automatically add goal lines to Skill Acquisition graphs based on the mastery criteria for the target. This setting is based on the mastery criteria at the time the target is open.
NOTE: If the mastery criteria are changed later, the goal line will NOT automatically update.
- Re-Mastery Auto-Opens Next Target - Specify if re-mastering a target will trigger auto-open.
