Prompt Schedules designate which prompts will display and in what order. When creating a Prompt Schedule, users have the ability to set criteria for promotion and demotion and what should happen in the case of a tiebreaker.
NOTE: Organization must have Prompt Code defaults established before creating a Prompt Schedule.
Jump to Section: [Create Prompt Schedule] [View or Edit Prompt Schedule] [Assign or Remove Targets to a Prompt Schedule] [View Suggested Prompt Level/Manually Set a Prompt Level] [Viewing Errorless Learning Target in App]
Access Prompt Schedules subtab from the Setup Tab in the Students Section.
Create Prompt Schedule
1. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click New Prompt Schedule.
2. Enter Prompt Schedule Name. 3. Select Promotion Schedule criteria. Set circumstances that would cause a Target to move from one prompt level to another, less intrusive prompt level. Select x out of y where x is the number of correct trials and y is the number of trials that must take place. |
4. Select Demotion Schedule criteria.
Set circumstances that would cause a Target to move from one prompt level to another, more intrusive prompt level. Select x out of y where x is the number of incorrect trials and y is the number of trials that must take place.
5. Select Method for Tie Breakers.
Occasionally the promotion and demotion formulas will lead to conflict, in that case, establish what you want the Prompt level to do.
6. To Add a Prompt Code to a Schedule, click the dropdown arrow and select desired Prompt Code. 7. Click Add. |
NOTE: List Prompts in order of most intrusive (listed at the top) to least intrusive. Reorder Prompts after adding them by clicking and dragging the Prompts to the desired order. Be sure to add Independent as a Prompt Code as Catalyst will NOT automatically add it as an option. Do not use any type of "incorrect" responses in your prompt schedule as Catalyst will interpret these as prompts and could score as 100% in the raw data if it is the suggested prompt level.
View or Edit Prompt Schedule
Once a prompt schedule is created, users can view and edit the promotion/demotion criteria, add additional prompts or delete them. This can only be done if the prompt schedule has not been assigned to any targets yet. If your prompt schedule is assigned to targets, they must be removed first to delete or add prompts or change promotion/demotion criteria. Once any edits are made then you can re-assign the targets to the prompt schedule.
- Click Actions for desired Prompt Schedule.
- Click View/Edit.
- Edit Prompt Schedule details as necessary.
- Click Delete to remove a Prompt from the Prompt Schedule.
Assign or Remove Targets to a Prompt Schedule
Once a Prompt Schedule has been created, users can assign which Targets should use the schedule.
Once a target has been assigned a prompt schedule it is then referred to as an “errorless” target in Catalyst as you will see this next to the target type description. Prompt schedules can only be assigned to DTT or Conditional Discrimination targets. A prompt schedule will highlight for the user what suggested prompt should be used with the student based on the promotion and demotion criteria and prompt hierarchy that was set up by the user. When recording data on these targets, notate the most intrusive prompt level that was needed for the student to get the response correct and Catalyst will promote or demote the suggested prompt level accordingly following the criteria set and the response of the student.
NOTE: When assigning a prompt schedule to a target the raw data and the graph types available will change to notate 100% if the student scores correctly at the suggested prompt level or a less intrusive prompt and 0% if they only responded to a more intrusive prompt than the current suggested prompt level. To find out more information on how to interpret these errorless learning graphs see this article: Graphing Glossary
- Click Actions for desired Prompt Schedule.
- Click Add/Remove Targets.
- Drill down as appropriate and select (or deselect) checkboxes of desired Targets to add to the Prompt Schedule.
NOTE: Prompt schedules cannot be edited or deleted once Targets have been added. To edit or delete, first remove Targets from the Prompt Schedule.
View Suggested Prompt Level/Manually Set a Prompt Level
Users can view and/or manually set the suggested prompt level for the target instead of waiting for the promotion/demotion criteria to change the suggested prompt level accordingly.
- Access desired Target from the Skill Acquisition subtab.
- Select the Program Name.
- Click Actions.
- Click Set Prompt.
A screen will appear displaying the current suggested prompt level in bold, which can be changed from the drop-down menu.
