NOTE: For more information on collecting Behavior data in the app, see (NEW) Per Behavior Data: Overview.
IMPORTANT After a Behavior has been created, you can only edit/change the Behavior Name, Goal Name, Definition, and Do not zero out option. You cannot change the Category or the Reporting Type.
Create a Behavior
- Select the Student from the dropdown on the Students tab.
- Select the Behavior Reduction tab.
- Select the Behaviors subtab.
- Scroll to the bottom of the page and click Create New Behavior.
- Enter Behavior information:
IMPORTANT: The Recording Type will determine how the data can be collected on the Catalyst App (this cannot be changed).
*Denotes Required Field- *Behavior Name
- Behavior Category
- Goal Name (for Reporting)
- Definition

Recording Type
- Frequency - How often a behavior occurs, measured as a number of events.
- Rate - Combines frequency and duration of behavior into a single target.
- Duration - How long a behavior episode takes place.
- Momentary Time Sample - Record behavior that is being displayed at a particular moment.
- Partial Interval - Define an 'Observe and Record' interval.
- Do not Zero Out - When this box is left unchecked (default), the system will use the student's general behavior settings. When this box is checked it will override the student's settings and exclude this behavior. To change the student's zero-out behavior settings, visit Setup > Settings > Other.
NOTE: Momentary Time Sample and Partial Interval Behaviors have additional settings you will want to address. See the Interval Settings in the Student Settings Subtab article for more information.
Edit a Behavior
Once a Behavior is created it can be viewed and edited.
NOTE: Editing a Behavior will affect historical information. For example, if I took data on "Hand-flapping" last month and then edited the name and goal to "HF Continuous" if I run a report for the data I took a month ago it would be listed with the new name of "HF Continuous".
- Select the Student from the dropdown on the Students tab.
- Select the Behavior Reduction tab.
- Select the Behaviors subtab.
- Locate the desired Behavior.
- Click Actions.
- Select Edit Details.

Edit Behavior as appropriate.
NOTE: You can only change Behavior Name, Goal Name, Definition, and Do not zero out. You cannot change the Category or the Reporting Type.
- Click Save when finished.
Archive a Behavior
- Select the Student from the dropdown on the Students tab.
- Select the Behavior Reduction tab.
- Select the Behaviors subtab.
- Locate the desired Behavior.
- Click Actions.
- Select Archive.
NOTE: Behaviors are immediately archived and can be viewed by clicking Archived.
